Description of Significance THIS HOME WAS BUILT FOR MOSES KEOKUK, FIRST ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL CHIEF TO PRINCIPAL CHIEF MAHKOSAHTOE IN 1890 WHEN THE SAC AND FOX SIGNED THEIR ALLOTMENT AGREEMENT WITH THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT. KEOKUK LIVED IN THE HOUSE FROM ITS CONSTRUCTION IN 1874 UNTIL 1889. HIS TWO-STORY BRICK HOUSE HAD A SIDE GABLED ROOF AND THREE BAYS. ALL WINDOW OPENINGS WERE ARCHE WITH CAST STONE SILLS. LISTED IN NATIONAL REGISTER 6/19/1973. BURNED IN 2002.
